REV.2019.01
If you have experienced or witnessed an incident that violates our Code of Conduct, please contact us at conduct@pdxhs.org or call us at 503-560-3551.
PDX Hackerspace is dedicated to a harassment-free experience for everyone. PDX Hackerspace events are open, inclusive events. PDX Hackerspace participants include makers, tinkerers, families, students, and everyone else wanting to experience PDX Hackerspace events and be a part of the PDX Hackerspace community.
It is important for participants to step beyond prejudices, societal norms, and other perspectives that lead to disrespect for people and groups. Everyone is welcome at PDX Hackerspace events, regardless of race, class, gender identity or expression, age, ethnicity, religion, political beliefs, disability, sexual orientation, personal appearance, or education level, and other aspects of who we are.
In short: PDX Hackerspace is a space for tolerance and respect.
PDX Hackerspace strongly values free speech. We also value our participants and we do not want anyone to feel marginalized or intimidated. We encourage everyone to think about how offhand comments they make about others may contribute to making some feel unwelcome in our community.
PDX Hackerspace administrators are available to provide guidance, and to mediate disputes, should they arise.
PDX Hackerspace seeks to ensure no participant is harassed. This includes, but is not limited to: deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, disruption of events or other activities, inappropriate physical contact, or unwelcome sexual attention.
PDX Hackerspace administrators reserve the right to eject anyone from the space at any time. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have related concerns, we encourage you to contact a PDX Hackerspace administrator immediately.
If a participant engages in behavior which is harassing or discriminatory in any way, PDX Hackerspace administrators may take any action they deem appropriate. These actions include, but are not limited to, issuing a warning or expulsion from PDX Hackerspace. If a warning or expulsion is issued, PDX Hackerspace administrators may elect to share this information with similar organizations from any network that the participant joins in the future.
If a participant engages in behavior which is harassing or discriminatory in any way at events in more than one network, PDX Hackerspace administrators may take any action they deem appropriate. These actions include, but are not limited to, issuing a warning or expulsion from all future PDX Hackerspace events in all networks.
Thank you so much to HOPE (hope.net) and WWCode (womenwhocode.com), for providing the foundations for our Hackerspace’s Code of Conduct.
